Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former mentor his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks his maiden championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after March of 2023.

Victory also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

His defensive approach and frequent emotional displays on court had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to compete at the top level was over.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play positively, supported by an improved serving game.

He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial professional victory, took control to force a decider.

Moutet saved 4 early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
